CUPE Saskatchewan Indigenous Peoples Conference is now open!

About the Conference

  • When: November 5 (full day) and November 6 (half day), 2026
  • Where: Wanuskewin Heritage Park (4 Penner Rd, Saskatoon). No hotel blocks are reserved. Locals are encouraged to book at unionized hotels.
  • Why: To learn directly from Indigenous leaders, understand more about history and practices, share experiences, commit to reconciliation, and create connections with each other.
  • Who: The conference is open to all CUPE members (Indigenous and non-Indigenous).

Proposed Bylaw Changes

This is notice that there will be a presentation and vote on proposed bylaw changes at our September GMM on September 22, 2026 at 12 pm in WPT 132. Our Table Officers, along with CUPE National, have met and reviewed our bylaws earlier this year and have updated them to align with CUPE 1975’s vision.

The proposed changes will be reviewed with the membership, providing an opportunity for members to ask questions and discuss the amendments. Following the presentation and discussion, members in attendance will vote on whether to adopt the proposed bylaw changes in accordance with the Local’s bylaws and the CUPE National Constitution.

We strongly encourage you to attend to stay up to date and have your say.

CUPE 1975 Cutest Pet Contest!

Show us your cute pets and enter them in to win prizes and a chance to be in our 2027 calendar!  Contest starts on July 15th!  Come to our BBQ for more information and to grab some CUPE gear to dress your pet in!  If you have more than one pet, you can enter each pet but only one picture of each pet.  One picture per pet/member.  Contest will run all summer and the winners will be announced at the September GMM!

Message from Human Resources re: Critical Illness Insurance

The deadline to enrol for Optional Critical Illness Insurance is June 30.

Optional Critical Illness Insurance provides a lump-sum payment if the covered person is diagnosed with a covered, life-altering illness. This benefit can help with expenses not covered by government or workplace health plans.

The insurance is available through Sun Life, with employees paying the premiums. Coverage amounts range from $20,000 to $200,000, in $10,000 increments. Employees can apply for up to $50,000 in coverage (spouses up to $20,000) without providing a health statement.

Deadline to enrol is June 30, with coverage starting July 16.

Support for CUPE Local 47

Dear CUPE1975 Members,
We are asking our members to stand in solidarity with our sisters and brothers of CUPE Local47, who are currently bargaining with the City of Saskatoon for a fair collective agreement.
CUPE 47 members provide critical water and wastewater services that protect public health and environmental safety for Saskatoon and surrounding communities. Recent mediation between the parties was unsuccessful, and the local has launched a public letter-writing campaign asking City Council to bargain fairly and in good faith.
As union members, we know that strong public services depend on respected, properly supported workers. Solidarity matters — especially when employers seek concessions that could impact workers, workplace stability, and the services communities rely on every day.
We encourage all members to take a few moments to support CUPE 47 by participating in their campaign by clicking on the link below to send a letter to Saskatoon City Council :
