The deadline to enrol for Optional Critical Illness Insurance is June 30.
Optional Critical Illness Insurance provides a lump-sum payment if the covered person is diagnosed with a covered, life-altering illness. This benefit can help with expenses not covered by government or workplace health plans.
The insurance is available through Sun Life, with employees paying the premiums. Coverage amounts range from $20,000 to $200,000, in $10,000 increments. Employees can apply for up to $50,000 in coverage (spouses up to $20,000) without providing a health statement.
Deadline to enrol is June 30, with coverage starting July 16.
