What is your name and your role on the executive?
My name is Gail Lasiuk and I am President of our local union.
Can you give a brief description of your background?
Throughout my career I have worked as a medical lab tech, research technician, library tech, and university support staff.
Why did you choose to become a union representative on the CUPE 1975 executive?
Unions represent working people. Like most people, I count on decent jobs to support myself, my family, and our shared future. I really identify as a working woman and a union activist.
Can you give some personal details (e.g. hobbies)?
I am a total foodie. I love flowers, plants, crafts and putzing around home.
What is a fun fact about yourself?
I am an introvert by nature: my union work nudges me out of that comfort zone.
